Police chase with shooting in Limassol ended in an accident
In the village of Episkopi in Limassol, there was a police chase with shooting yesterday evening. While fleeing from the pursuit, young people got into an accident: two people were injured.
According to the Limassol Police Department, around 20:30 on Omirou Street, patrol officers attempted to stop a rented car carrying three young people for inspection. However, the driver ignored the police's demand and increased speed, trying to escape. The chase continued towards the communities of Erimi and Episkopi, west of Limassol. During the pursuit, the fugitives threw bags out of the window, presumably containing drugs.
Police fired warning shots into the air from their service pistols, trying to get the car to stop, but unsuccessfully.
The chase ended in an accident in Episkopi; the car with the young people crashed into another car driven by a woman, with her children in the back seat.
As a result of the accident, two passengers of the second car were injured and taken to Limassol General Hospital.
Police arrested three individuals. It was revealed that a 23-year-old man was driving. Two young people aged 16 and 20 were passengers.
About 10 grams of cannabis were found on the driver. The police are investigating what exactly was thrown out of the car windows during the chase.
