Cyprus Police Investigate Attempted Murder in Nicosia Suburb
On Monday evening, an attempted murder took place in the suburb of Aglandjia in Nicosia. Unknown assailants opened fire on a car with minors inside.
According to the police press service, the incident occurred on Monday evening on Larnaca Avenue shortly after 17:15. The presumed victim, a 49-year-old man, pulled up to a kiosk in his car. Inside the vehicle were his two children – a 17-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter.
An unknown perpetrator fired shots at the car. In total, two shots were fired. Fortunately, they did not hit the presumed victim or the children.
Despite no injuries resulting from the shooting, the police confirmed that they are investigating the case as an attempted murder. Bullets damaged the passenger door window and the car's windshield.
The area where the incident occurred has been cordoned off. The police are reviewing surveillance camera footage to determine the direction in which the assailant fled. Shell casings have been collected from the scene, and potential witnesses are being interviewed.
