Cyprus police have increased patrolling and checks across the island amid incidents of arson, firecracker use, and juvenile delinquency leading up to the Easter holidays.

According to law enforcement, over the past 24 hours, officers responded to several cases of fires in open areas and seized wood prepared for Easter bonfires.

In Limassol, during a night patrol near a church, three incendiary devices of the Molotov cocktail type were discovered and seized for further investigation. Additionally, firefighters extinguished several fires, and wood intended for bonfires was found in trash containers.

In Nicosia, police also recorded cases of firecracker use and arson. Materials prepared for bonfires were seized and handed over to local authorities.

In other districts of the island — Famagusta, Larnaca, Paphos, and Morphou — intensified checks and patrols were carried out. No serious incidents were recorded there.

Police stated they will continue enhanced security measures to prevent unrest and dangerous incidents during the Easter holiday period.
