Police Release Passenger Who Caused Security Scare on Moldova-Cyprus Flight
A passenger whose behavior raised security concerns on a flight from Moldova to Cyprus has been released by police. The 46-year-old man was questioned but faced no charges, as there was no evidence against him and he had no prior legal issues.
The incident led to a "red alert" at Larnaca Airport, triggering heightened security measures. The flight crew had found the man’s behavior suspicious, prompting authorities to take precautions. After landing at 11:00 AM, the aircraft was isolated in a secure area. It was later moved to a regular parking zone after 2:00 PM, while some flights were temporarily diverted to Paphos Airport.
The man was detained and questioned by police before being released. He explained that he frequently travels to Cyprus to visit his family. Authorities also searched his family’s home but found nothing suspicious.
By around 3:00 PM, Larnaca Airport resumed normal operations.
