Series of attacks on women in Limassol: police increase coastal patrols

A series of attacks on women is being investigated in Limassol, in the Amathus area. According to the police, from October 16 to 19, three incidents were recorded, two of which were filed as reports, and one as an official complaint. All cases had a similar pattern: unknown men approached women in the evening and attempted to make physical contact.
One of the victims reported that a man attacked her, first trying to hug her, then grabbed her by the neck and tried to cover her mouth with his hand. The woman managed to break free and call for help, after which the perpetrator fled. Two other women reported similar attempted attacks near the pedestrian area by hotels in the Germasogeia district.
Limassol police confirmed the investigation and reported that patrols along the coast and in the tourist area have been significantly increased. Law enforcement is reviewing CCTV footage and collecting witness statements. Preliminary data suggest the suspects may be foreigners.
Local residents express concern and demand additional safety measures, especially in the evening. Police urge citizens to remain vigilant, avoid walking alone in deserted areas, and immediately report suspicious individuals via the emergency hotline.
The investigation continues, and authorities promise to keep the public informed as new information becomes available.
