Police detained 19 people during raids against undeclared work in Cyprus
A coordinated police operation together with the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour took place yesterday morning in several settlements in Cyprus.
Raids were conducted in Astromeriti, Peristerona, Evrychou, Galata, and Kakopetria. In four enterprises, 13 people were found working without proper registration; all of them were detained and taken to the police station for further checks.
Additionally, around the building, six more people were identified trying to hide when the police appeared. They were detained, it was established that they were illegally residing in the Republic of Cyprus, and they were also taken into custody.
Employees of the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour recorded violations and handed employers notices of breaches regarding undeclared employment; charges against employers will be filed at a later stage.
The police stated that in cooperation with competent authorities, they will continue targeted inspections to suppress illegal and undeclared employment in Cyprus.
