Fire in a residential building in Nicosia: one person hospitalized
Early in the morning, a fire broke out in a two-story residential building in Nicosia, to which the Fire Department responded promptly.
The fire started in an apartment on the first floor and spread to neighboring units. During the extinguishing process, firefighters checked all floors and found one person in a semi-conscious state with burns. They were evacuated from the building and handed over to an ambulance team for transport to the emergency department of Nicosia General Hospital.
Two more residents were found on the roof of the building; they had inhaled smoke but were conscious and were evacuated with the assistance of the firefighters.
As a result of the fire, one apartment on the first floor and two adjoining units on the same level suffered significant damage from fire and heat. The electrical panel in the building’s lobby was also damaged. Apartments on the two upper floors were affected by smoke and heat.
The cause of the fire is being investigated jointly with the police.
