European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to Visit Cyprus
President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola is scheduled to visit Cyprus on Saturday, May 10. During her stay, she will meet with President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, followed by a visit to the CYENS Centre of Excellence in the old town of the capital.
Throughout her term, Metsola has shown consistent interest in Cyprus and efforts to resolve the long-standing Cyprus issue. In an address to the European Parliament last month, she reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Cyprus on its path to reunification.
She also highlighted that the expanded meeting on the Cyprus issue held in Geneva this March marked "an important step toward the reunification of the island."
“The European Parliament is fully committed to backing the UN-led process because we believe dialogue and diplomacy are the only paths to a lasting solution,” Metsola stressed.
Her last official visit to the island took place in April of last year.
