The President of Cyprus met with one of the leaders of the Vatican
The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides, met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Vatican, Deputy Secretary of State of the Holy See for General Affairs, Monsignor Edgar Peña Parra.
During the meeting on Friday, the crisis in the Middle East and the situation in the broader region were discussed. Nicos Christodoulides talked about the pressure on migrants facing Cyprus from those arriving from Syria and Lebanon, and also outlined the island's proposal to create a humanitarian aid corridor to the Gaza Strip.
Edgar Peña Parra conveyed greetings from the Pope to the Cypriot leader and noted the strong ties between the island and the Vatican.
