President announces full medical care plan for Maronites and enclave residents

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, announced that a proposal for full medical and pharmaceutical support for resettled Maronites through the GHS (GESY) system will be submitted to the Council of Ministers in the near future. He shared this during the solemn celebration of Saint Maron's Day at the Cathedral of Saint Maron in Nicosia.
The Head of State emphasized that supporting the Maronite community and residents of the enclaves remains a government priority. According to him, the state continues to implement programs aimed at improving the quality of life and supporting the return of residents to their villages.
Measures already taken include:
- financial assistance of €320,000 to the Kormakitis community for flood protection works and the restoration of a former kindergarten building;
- a 30% increase in allowances;
- a €1,200 subsidy for the replacement of solar water heaters;
- provision of a new bus for transportation services;
- reconstruction of the Saint Maron school;
- funding for educational and cultural programs to preserve the language and identity of the Maronite community.
The President also noted that after 25 years, the preschool facility in Kormakitis has resumed its operations.
Yiannakis Mousas, the Maronite representative in Parliament, thanked the President for his support and emphasized the importance of continuing state initiatives aimed at strengthening and preserving the community.
