The Presidential Palace in Cyprus will be transformed into a museum space

Cyprus First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides is launching a cultural project, “Cyprus: The World, Place, Word, Matter,” turning the Presidential Palace into a fully fledged museum space.
The exhibition features around 100 artworks by 57 Cypriot and international artists, as well as a collection of antiquities dating from the 4th millennium BC to the 1st century BC, provided by the Department of Antiquities, including artefacts returned to Cyprus after years of legal battles.
The project is complemented by an interactive “time machine” created by researchers of the Cyprus Institute: visitors will be able to digitally trace the history of the palace — from the colonial period and the events of 1931 to the 1974 coup.
The First Lady emphasizes that the aim of the initiative is to make the Presidential Palace more open to society, introduce open-door days and regular school visits so that the building becomes a living point of contact with the modern history and culture of Cyprus.
