The cause of death of an inmate in the central prison was choking on food
The 63-year-old man who died on Friday in the Central Prison passed away as a result of choking while eating. This was reported following an autopsy conducted on Saturday.
Forensic pathologist Nikolaos Charalambous determined that the cause of death was asphyxia caused by obstruction of the airways with food.
It is уточняется, that at around 15:55 a prison officer found the inmate in his cell without signs of life. The man was urgently taken to the emergency department of Nicosia General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The deceased’s relatives were informed of the incident.
