Drunk British Tourist Attacks Bystanders and Police in Ayia Napa
A 19-year-old British tourist went on a drunken rampage in Ayia Napa, assaulting passersby before turning on police officers who arrived to intervene.
According to a statement from the police press office, the incident took place around 2:00 a.m. in the Limanaki area. Witnesses had reported the young man’s aggressive and erratic behavior.
When officers arrived on the scene, they spotted the tourist attempting to attack people on the street. He was promptly arrested for public intoxication, disturbing the peace, and offending public decency.
However, the situation escalated during the arrest. The man resisted and lashed out at the officers. In the struggle, he lost his balance, fell to the ground, and sustained a cut above his eyebrow.
An ambulance transported him to Famagusta General Hospital, where he was treated and discharged shortly after. He was then taken into custody. The Ayia Napa Police Department is continuing its investigation.
