Famagusta Rally to block coastal route Xylophagou — Ormideia on Saturday

8 November the area of Xylophagou and Ormideia will turn into the arena for the “Famagusta 2025” rally, organised by the Famagusta Motor Sport Club (FMSC). This is one of the stages of the Cyprus National Rally Championship, where participants from all over the island compete each year, and spectators enjoy gravel action and the adrenaline of high-speed stages.
Road closures and safety tips:
The coastal road will be closed to traffic from 11:30 to 17:00, although the main runs start only at 13:00. Organisers and police strongly recommend that drivers choose alternative routes in advance and strictly follow on-site instructions. The British Bases administration clarifies: the route will affect the area near Panagia Church in Xylophagou, the coastal section to Ormideia, and the veterinary service zone — access here will be completely restricted to ensure the safety of drivers and spectators.
Route and participants:
The total race distance is about 279 km, including 74.8 km of pure special stages and 204 km of liaison sections. The course is 95% gravel with minimal asphalt parts. The Halospitia, Dhasaki and Koshi stages stand out, each 14.6 km long. Modern rally cars and classic models will compete. Residents are advised to avoid travelling through the coastal zone during these hours in order to prevent traffic jams and not interfere with the event.
