Parents can apply for state aid to pay for kindergartens
Applications are now open for participation in the Subsidy Plan for preschool education fees. This was announced by the Benefits Management Service of the Ministry of Social Protection of Cyprus.
Parents of children aged four years until the age of compulsory free preschool education (4 years and 5 months) may apply. State aid is provided to cover tuition in kindergartens participating in the program.
The plan was approved by the Council of Ministers on March 26, 2025, and is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Program. It provides full coverage of fees for educational institutions operating from 07:45 to 13:05.
The maximum subsidy is 130 euros per month for municipal kindergartens and 200 euros for private ones. No income criteria are set for families: support is available to all legal residents of the Republic of Cyprus whose children are enrolled in participating institutions.
Payments will be transferred directly to educational institutions and will cover the entire school year. Applications are submitted electronically via the government portal gov.cy or through the Benefits Management Service website.
Parents who apply before September 29, 2025 will receive the subsidy retroactively from September 1. In case of later submission, it will take effect from the month of application.
The Ministry emphasizes that this initiative aims to support families and ensure equal access of children to preschool education, urging parents to take advantage of this opportunity.
