Russia Evacuates Citizens via Azerbaijan Amid Regional Escalation
The Russian Embassy has expressed its gratitude to the Azerbaijani authorities for their assistance in organizing evacuations and the prompt processing of necessary border crossing permits. Currently, evacuees are receiving assistance at the Astara border checkpoint as they depart from Iranian territory.
The evacuation is being carried out following a formal recommendation from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which urged citizens to move to safe areas within Israel and Iran or to leave these countries entirely.
The recommendation was issued amid a series of military strikes by the United States and Israel against military infrastructure and the leadership in Iran.
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes on Saturday, calling them a "premeditated and unprovoked act of armed aggression."
Additionally, Russian aviation authorities have suspended all commercial flights to Iran and Israel until further notice.
