About 13.6 kg of explosives missing from Cyprus National Guard training ground
Approximately 13.6 kilograms of TNT may have gone missing from the Cyprus National Guard training ground located near the village of Kalo Chorio in the Limassol district.
The head of the National Guard, Emmanouil Theodorou, personally arrived at the training ground, where an internal investigation has already been launched. The police have also been informed of the incident.
Two main scenarios are being considered as part of the inquiry:
- The explosive material has indeed disappeared;
- The TNT was used during exercises, but this was not recorded according to the established procedures and protocols were violated.
It is also reported that exercises scheduled for Friday at this training ground have been postponed until the investigation is completed.
The investigation is ongoing.
