Fatal workplace accident in the Kofinou area
On Friday afternoon, a fatal workplace accident occurred in the Kofinou area of the Larnaca district. As a result of the tragedy, a 55-year-old Romanian national working for a private company lost his life.
According to police, the man was an employee of a company engaged in installing electricity transmission poles. The incident happened during the unloading of concrete counterweights from a truck.
At the time of the incident, the worker was inside the truck bed. For reasons not yet determined, the vehicle tilted to the right, causing the man to sustain severe injuries incompatible with life.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but the victim could not be saved — his death was pronounced at the scene.
Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy. It is reported that police are preparing a request for an arrest warrant for the truck driver, who was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, with all details and possible safety violations being examined.
