Strict Measures in Larnaca After School Bus Incident
On October 22, 2025, a meeting was held at the Larnaca Technical School, where strict measures were decided following an incident in which students threw objects at a school bus, preventing the driver from continuing and prompting him to call the police.
According to Kostas Costa, President of the Larnaca Secondary Education Parents’ Federation, the meeting took place from 9:00 to 12:00. During the incident, various objects, including olives collected at school, were thrown at the bus, distracting the driver from his work.
The meeting brought together the Parents’ Federation, parents of students, the Technical School administration, the relevant department of the Ministry of Education, and representatives of the Larnaca Police Department. The parties acknowledged the seriousness of the case and previous similar violations.
It was decided to immediately conduct investigations and collect statements to identify those involved and stop the repeated misconduct. According to police, six students were identified during checks as apparently participating in the incident; they are expected to appear at the Police Department with their parents to give statements.
After the bus stopped on Makarios Avenue, the driver filed a police report. The bus company will continue to operate the route. Upon completion of case file preparation, the matter will be referred to the Republic’s General Prosecutor for further instructions.
