Landfill in the midst of nature: waste in the Avakas Gorge in Cyprus
Cases of environmental pollution have been recorded in the Avakas Gorge, one of the most famous natural sites in Cyprus.
Photographs appearing online show litter scattered throughout different parts of the gorge, including household waste and even clothing. This disfigures the natural landscape and causes outrage among visitors.
A place that should serve as an example of respect for nature is gradually facing a pollution problem.
The situation once again raises the issue of the need for stricter control by the authorities, as well as the responsibility of visitors themselves for the preservation of the island's natural attractions.
