On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at around 17:30 in the Chloraka area (Paphos, Cyprus), a shocking family tragedy occurred.

According to AlphaNews, a conflict between a 53-year-old man and his 34-year-old wife escalated into violence during the day: the man pulled out a knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on the woman, killing her on the spot.

Horrifically, all this happened in front of their 14-year-old son. The teenager tried to intervene and stop his father, but the latter seriously injured his son in the neck area.

After that, the killer attempted suicide by inflicting wounds on himself. Police forces and an ambulance crew arrived at the scene. The man and his son were urgently taken to Paphos General Hospital.

According to the latest reports, both are in stable condition: their lives are not in danger.

The detained man remains under guard in the hospital until a court decision is made. It is expected that tomorrow, if no unforeseen complications arise, he will be transferred to Paphos District Court, where the arrest warrant will be examined.

The police have launched an investigation on two counts: murder (of the deceased wife) and attempted murder (of the underage son).

The trial and the further fate of the perpetrator will directly depend on the medical report and the course of the investigation.

In the coming days, official comments from the police or the prosecutor’s office will be published, and possibly information about the motives of the crime will emerge.
