Tragedy in Paphos: Nepalese Man Dies, Woman in Critical Condition
A tragic incident occurred this morning in the Paphos district. A 44-year-old man from Nepal was found dead, and a 32-year-old woman of the same nationality was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after inhaling dangerous fumes.
According to police, at around 09:45, a 59-year-old Greek Cypriot, owner of a restaurant in the Petra tou Romiou area, discovered his 44-year-old foreign employee and a woman unconscious in the restaurant's basement, which the man used as living quarters.
Officers from Paphos Police, Kouklia Police Station, and an ambulance crew arrived at the scene. Rescuers determined that the 44-year-old man was already deceased.
The woman, later identified as a 32-year-old Nepalese national working as a domestic helper in a village in the Paphos district, was transported to Paphos General Hospital with severe respiratory issues and is currently in the intensive care unit.
During a search of the room, police found a metal container with burning coals, presumably used for heating. Dangerous fumes built up in the enclosed space, resulting in the man's death and the woman's loss of consciousness.
The exact cause of death will be determined following a forensic autopsy, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
