Nicosia-Limassol Highway to Be Partially Closed for Carnival Parade
The schedule for road closures during the Limassol Carnival parade has been announced. On Sunday, March 2, the Nicosia-Limassol highway is expected to experience heavy traffic due to the final parade of the event.
To manage the flow of traffic, the Department of Public Works will impose restrictions near the Kalavasos Bridge.
From 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on March 2, two lanes heading from Limassol to Nicosia will be closed. Traffic will be diverted to the old Limassol-Nicosia road through the Governor's Beach and Kalavasos interchanges. From 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the same day, traffic traveling from Nicosia to Limassol will continue smoothly, with both lanes open.
After 4:00 PM, traffic regulations associated with the ongoing bridge reconstruction will be in effect. For approximately 1 km, two lanes heading toward Nicosia will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to the opposite lanes, which will operate in a two-way system.
The police have asked travelers to plan their routes in advance, particularly those heading back to Nicosia. Alternative routes are recommended, with the old Nicosia-Limassol road being a good option.
The Limassol Carnival, one of Cyprus' most exciting events, runs from February 20 to March 2 this year. The festival is expected to attract around 35,000 participants.
