Cyprus Tourism: 2025 called "historic" — Germany sets new record for arrivals
Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, Kostas Koumis, stated that 2025 became a "milestone" year for the sector: actual revenues exceeded expectations, and the German market showed the best result in nearly three decades. The statement was made at the Christmas village site in Statos — Ayios Fotios (Paphos district).
According to him, the previous peak for Germany had been since 1997 — around 250,000 arrivals, and only in 2025 was this "ceiling" surpassed. Among the reasons, Koumis noted the increased air connectivity with Germany through Larnaca and Paphos airports, as well as the fact that German tourists actively travel to inland areas and villages, distributing tourism revenue beyond the coast.
The official also cited industry assessments, according to which Cyprus in 2025 ranked among the leaders in Europe in terms of improved air connectivity and growth in key tourism indicators. Going forward, the department plans to focus on the "green transition" and the development of year-round tourism.
