Tour operators warn of a difficult tourist season in Cyprus
Cyprus's tourism industry could face a challenging season due to the deteriorating international situation and the war around Iran. This was stated by Charis Papacharalambous, President of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTTA).
According to him, the main problem now is the sense of insecurity abroad, which is being heightened by travel warnings published by several countries. This is already affecting tourist flow.
Although a slight improvement in new bookings has been observed in recent weeks, the situation is still far from normal. At the same time, cancellations continue, and there is a risk of a decline in tourist numbers in March, April, May, and even during the summer period.
The tourism industry also expects changes in flight schedules, as airlines may reduce the number of flights due to low aircraft occupancy.
Travel agents are trying to improve the situation by holding meetings with tour operators abroad, promoting Cyprus as a safe destination, and inviting foreign partners to visit the island to see for themselves.
According to industry estimates, about 75% of tourists come to Cyprus through tour operators and travel agencies, so any changes in bookings directly affect the hotel sector.
