Merchant Ship Crew Member Rescued by Helicopter off the Coast of Cyprus
Last night, a crew member from a commercial vessel was rescued off the coast of Cyprus. An air ambulance helicopter was deployed to transport the injured woman to safety.
On Thursday evening, the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) received a report about an injured crew member aboard a merchant ship. The vessel was located 12 nautical miles south of the island, within the Nicosia Flight Information Region (FIR) of the Republic of Cyprus.
In response, the national E-D NEARCHOS emergency plan was activated. A 460MED helicopter from the Aviation Administration, carrying a specialized paramedic from the Emergency Medical Services, was dispatched to the scene.
The patient was successfully airlifted and transported to Limassol General Hospital, where she is now receiving medical care.
