Search for Missing Polish Tourist Off Cyprus Coast Continues for a Third Day
The search resumed on the morning of April 24 for a 35-year-old Polish tourist who went missing off the coast of Cyprus on Tuesday. Despite extensive efforts by land and sea from Cape Arnaoutis to Pomos throughout the previous day, no sign of the man has yet been found.
According to reports, the tourist set out on the morning of April 23 from Latchi port in a rented inflatable boat for a short solo trip along the coast. At around 4:30 p.m., residents spotted the boat drifting off the coast of Argaka, about 200 meters from the shore. The boat was empty.
Authorities immediately launched a large-scale search operation involving marine and port police vessels, a National Guard helicopter, and police officers. So far, only the abandoned boat has been recovered.
Investigators are considering all possible scenarios, including an accident. The boat’s propeller was found damaged, with markings that suggest it may have struck a rock or other hard object.
It’s been confirmed that the tourist arrived in Cyprus on April 14, spending five days in Larnaca before heading to Latchi on April 19. He rented the boat the day before he disappeared. Authorities have contacted his family and are keeping them informed as the search continues.
