Avakas Gorge closed due to dangerous weather conditions

The Forestry Department has announced the closure of Avakas Gorge. The dates: from 6 December until further notice. The reason is worsening weather conditions and an increased risk of landslides.
According to the department, after winter precipitation, large rocks and soil may fall in the canyon. The paths have become very slippery, and the stream is significantly fuller, making the route unsafe to pass.
The reopening date of the gorge has not yet been announced. Staff of the Forestry Department and the Akamas National Park will regularly assess the situation and report any changes. The authorities apologise for the temporary inconvenience and emphasise that the restriction is introduced solely for the safety of visitors.
