In the Larnaca airport, nearly 17 kilograms of cannabis were found in a suitcase
At Larnaca Airport, a suitcase containing nearly 17 kilograms of cannabis was found. A 26-year-old man has been detained.
According to the police press service, marijuana was discovered as part of investigative actions conducted by the Narcotics Unit (YKAN Larnaca) in cooperation with customs and other competent authorities to identify individuals smuggling drugs into the Republic of Cyprus.
During a special operation conducted at the airport, a suitcase containing 16 kilograms and 752 grams of cannabis was found and confiscated.
As part of further investigation, the police obtained evidence against the 26-year-old man, who was detained yesterday evening and placed in custody. It is expected that today the suspect will appear before the District Court of Larnaca.
