Three people with counterfeit passports were arrested at Paphos Airport
At Paphos Airport, police arrested three individuals who were found with counterfeit passports.
According to a police representative, on Thursday, around 13:30, a 27-year-old man and his 25-year-old wife went through passport control before their flight to Sofia. Both passengers presented Syrian passports. However, after they successfully entered the departure lounge, police became suspicious of the authenticity of the documents.
During subsequent searches, it was found that both passengers had counterfeit British passports and tickets to Dublin.
At the same time, another 25-year-old man passed through passport control in the airport departure lounge, also with a ticket to Sofia and a Syrian passport. His documents also appeared suspicious to the police.
During the inspection, a counterfeit Dutch passport and a ticket to Dublin were found on the third passenger.
All three were arrested, with two men currently in custody, and the woman was charged in writing because she has a child. It is expected that they will all appear in court today.
