Makarios Hospital in Nicosia has unveiled plans to expand and renovate its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with the project estimated to cost €6.549 million.
Construction is set to commence on January 20 and is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete. As part of the project, the upgraded NICU will feature 26 new incubators, including four isolators and intermediate care rooms equipped with 24 incubators. All facilities will adhere to the latest approved specifications.
A press release issued by the State Health Services Organization (Okypy) emphasized that the renovation is designed to “enhance the experience for both parents and their newborns, ensuring their stay is as comfortable as possible.”
During the construction period, a portion of the hospital’s parking area will be unavailable. Visitors and staff are encouraged to use alternative parking facilities at the Strovolos Municipal Sports Center.
