287 Cannabis-Infused Products Seized in Two Stores in Cyprus
In a joint operation between the police and the Ministry of Health, searches were conducted at stores in Nicosia and Paphos. During the raids, products containing cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were seized.
The searches, which took place on January 20-21, were part of an investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics without the proper authorization from the relevant authorities.
The operation involved officers from the Intellectual Property and Illegal Betting Unit, the Cybercrime Department, the Drug Enforcement Service (YKAN) in both Nicosia and Paphos, and the Pharmaceutical and Medical Services of the Ministry of Health.
A total of 244 packages of products, suspected of containing cannabidiol (CBD), were found in the two stores. These products lacked the necessary registration certificate and were confiscated for further investigation by the Central Police Stations of Nicosia and Paphos.
Additionally, 43 packages of products believed to contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were seized from a store in Paphos.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical compound derived from the Cannabis sativa plant.
Products containing cannabidiol are classified as pharmaceuticals and require a marketing license to be sold. Any commercial activity, including wholesale and retail sales to the public, is strictly prohibited without the appropriate permits.
