One of the first “AI factories” has launched in Finland

LUMI AI Factory has begun operating in Finland — one of the first European centres that combines a supercomputer with a full range of services for companies and researchers working with artificial intelligence.
The project is built around the LUMI supercomputer, one of the most powerful in the world. Based on its infrastructure, startups, universities and businesses can develop AI solutions for medicine, climate, industry, big data analysis and other fields. Access to resources is provided upon application, and some services are available free of charge to teams from the EU.
Special emphasis is placed on sustainability: the centre runs on green energy, and the heat it generates is used to warm nearby homes. Authorities and project partners expect LUMI AI Factory to become a model for similar “AI factories” in other European countries and to accelerate the region’s digital transformation.
