Shops in Larnaca will stay open until 23:00 on October 24
On October 24, shops in the center of Larnaca will remain open until 23:00 as part of the "Center by Night" event, according to the Cyprus Retailers Association.
The event includes shops located on Ermou, Zinonos Kitieos, and Zinonos Pieridi streets. Organizers promise a relaxed evening shopping experience, discounts, free beer and mulled wine, as well as entertainment programs for children.
The initiative aims to restore customer traffic lost after major redevelopment works that began in the area a year ago. The head of the Cyprus Retailers Association, Dimitris Dimitriou, stated that due to restricted access, shop turnover has decreased by 20–30%.
Entrepreneurs support the municipality’s efforts to modernize the city center. The idea was inspired by similar initiatives in Greece, where shop hours were extended to attract more customers.
Some stores will offer discounts that evening. The event also includes live music performances, free drinks, and children’s trampolines. The association hopes to make such night events regular, allowing Larnaca residents to shop outside regular hours and in any weather conditions.
