In Larnaca, TEPAK School of Marine Sciences to Open — 500 New Student Places by 2027
The Parliamentary Committee on Education of Cyprus announced that in September 2027, the School of Marine Sciences and Sustainable Development of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) will begin operations in Larnaca.
Members of parliament also expressed satisfaction that by 2027 the university will have 500 new student places in dormitories:
- 150 places are planned for summer 2026,
- an additional 350 places in 2027.
According to committee representatives, this will be a "substantial support" amid the acute student housing crisis.
The university budget includes funds both for the construction of the new school buildings in Larnaca and for hiring staff.
Additionally, the opening of two faculties of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Larnaca — psychology and shipping — is being discussed, tentatively in September 2026, although the timeline remains uncertain.
Separately, the expansion of university infrastructure in other regions was raised, including the creation of new faculties and the development of student housing.
