In Larnaca, a school route was canceled after an attack on the driver
In Larnaca, a school route for technical school students was suspended after, on September 5, one of the students threw a bottle of water at the driver, according to a parent initiative. The incident left about 50 students from Pervolia and Kiti without transportation.
According to the initiative group, students have been missing classes for three days. The carrier announced the suspension of the route after the attack on the driver. The head of the parents’ association, Kostas Kostas, stated that if the route is not restored, parents will hold a protest on Monday at 8:00 near the Department of Transport building in Aradippou. Students are ready to boycott lessons in solidarity.
The complaint text emphasizes that the problem should be addressed promptly to avoid disrupting the learning process. As context, a similar incident in December 2024 is mentioned, when a student at the First Gymnasium in Larnaca threw a bottle of water at a teacher’s head; the girl was suspended, and the parents were notified.
The school year for secondary schools started simultaneously in all cities on September 8. According to authorities, about 47,000 students enrolled in Cypriot secondary schools this year.
