In Larnaca, a beach thief has been caught
Larnaca police apprehended a man suspected of being involved in a series of thefts at the resort's beaches. Once again, authorities are urging beachgoers to remain vigilant.
According to the police press service, information about an unknown individual possibly stealing property from beachgoers in Larnaca was received by law enforcement authorities yesterday evening, around 7:30 p.m. Police officers immediately went to the scene, where they found a man walking along the beach and peeking into other people's bags.
The police arrested the 44-year-old suspect for attempted theft and illegal possession of property.
During a subsequent search, two mobile phones and a pair of sunglasses were found on him. After the detained individual failed to coherently explain where the items came from, he was taken into custody.
In light of the incident, the police once again urge beach visitors to exercise caution. They advise carrying only necessary cash and avoiding valuable items.
The public is also encouraged never to leave belongings unattended and to collaborate with other beachgoers in keeping an eye on their property.
