In Larnaca, a worker stabbed his employer after being reprimanded for absence

On Monday afternoon, Larnaca police responded promptly to a report of an attack at a construction site on Rafaela Santi Street in the Tsiakkilero area.
According to preliminary information, at around 15:10 a 32-year-old worker inflicted a knife wound to the neck of his 49-year-old employer. The attacker — a citizen of one of the European countries — was detained and handed over to arriving police officers.
The incident occurred after the employer reprimanded the employee for not showing up for work. According to the investigation, the man returned to the site with a knife and stabbed the employer. Other workers intervened, stopped the attacker and held him until the police arrived.
The victim — a foreign businessman — was taken to hospital. According to doctors, his life is not in danger.
Police cordoned off the area, are examining the construction site and collecting witness statements. The investigation is ongoing.
