Suspect Arrested in Larnaca for Illegal Bird Trapping

In the Tochni area, officers from the Anti-Poaching Unit (MMAD) arrested a 35-year-old man suspected of illegally trapping songbirds.
According to police, early in the morning during patrol, officers noticed a man heading toward a location where two trapping nets had been set up. Nearby, an electronic device playing bird calls was also operating — such devices are used to attract flocks of wild birds.
Four birds, believed to be thrushes, were found in the nets. They were freed and released back into the wild.
The suspect was taken to the Zygi police station. The investigation is ongoing.
