Three arrested in Larnaca in drug possession case, police officers injured
The Larnaca police arrested a 27-year-old man in a case involving the possession of 1 kilogram of cannabis, law enforcement authorities reported on Monday.
As part of the same investigation, on Friday two more individuals aged 22 and 23 were arrested; they are currently in custody and assisting the investigation.
One of the detainees was found with 1 kilogram of cannabis, the second with precise electronic scales showing traces of drugs, as well as about 10 grams of cannabis in a car.
During the operation to detain the suspects, a road accident occurred, resulting in injuries to two officers from the YKAN anti-narcotics unit.
A female officer sustained a neck injury and bruised arm, while her male colleague was diagnosed with a double fracture of the hand. Additionally, two service vehicles suffered serious damage.
One of the suspects — a 22-year-old man — appeared before the Larnaca District Court on Saturday, which ordered him to remain in custody for eight days.
The investigation continues.
