A new municipal parking lot costing half a million euros will be operational in Larnaca
Starting tomorrow, a new municipal parking lot located on Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue in Larnaca will officially begin its operation. It is designed for 92 parking spaces and cost the city 550,000 euros.
Today, the new municipal space was officially handed over to the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Viras, who noted that the project is significant as it is located on the central axis of the city, near Acropolis Square, and the entrance to the city's shopping center.
According to the mayor, the parking lot is designed to provide easy and safe access, meeting both functional and aesthetic requirements.
In particular, a green corridor parallel to the sidewalk has been created on the facade of the project, which will become shaded in the future, providing shade for cars and people. Additionally, small green plantings are provided on the sidewalk, and a green fence is planted along the entire length of the other two borders. The installation of charging stations for electric cars is also planned.
"Another positive aspect is that, after much effort, we have managed to reach an acceptable solution with the Turkish Cypriot property owners. As a result, the property was leased to the municipality for many years for the purpose of creating a parking space," said the mayor.
The visual design of the project was created by the architectural firm ARMON Choros Architektonikis E.P.E. The technical service of the Municipality of Larnaca carried out the elaboration and supervision, and the project was completed in December 2023.
