Stolen cross found in Limassol: 45-year-old man detained

The Cyprus Police have recovered a cross that was stolen during the water blessing ceremony at the old port of Limassol. Following the investigation, a 45-year-old Greek Cypriot man was detained who, according to police, admitted his involvement in the incident.
The cross was found on Tuesday evening after analysis of the collected evidence and witness statements. The suspect was taken to the Limassol police station, where he is awaiting the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Police clarified that the item is a carved wooden cross with no significant material value. After all procedural actions are completed, the sacred object is planned to be returned to the church.
