In Limassol, a relief collection was organized for those affected by the fires, despite the controversial decision to evacuate the center in Pelentri
On July 25, 2025, the PEO Union in Limassol organized a large-scale relief collection for those affected by the fires. From early morning, people and organizations began to gather at the PEO center, bringing food, clothing, and essential items.
PEO Provincial Secretary Maria Singeri noted that the support was extremely important: accommodations and meals were provided in Pelentri for those affected. However, she expressed bewilderment regarding the decision to evacuate the center despite the absence of a direct fire threat. According to her, people should have the opportunity to return.
Residents actively respond: aid is arriving nonstop, and PEO staff immediately distribute everything among those in need. Singeri emphasized that the scale of solidarity moved everyone—the community does not remain indifferent in the face of disaster.
