Another Food Delivery Driver Assaulted in Limassol
Attacks on couriers continue in Limassol. Recently, a gang of seven assaulted a delivery driver and stole his motorcycle.
According to the police press office, the latest victim is a 23-year-old foreigner who is studying in Cyprus and working part-time as a food delivery driver.
The victim reported that the assault occurred around 9:20 PM while he was delivering food in the Kapsalos area of Limassol. The attackers beat him and stole a moped valued at €1,500.
Police officers quickly arrived at the scene. Witnesses indicated that the assailants appeared to be between 18 and 20 years old.
It’s alarming that attacks on couriers in Limassol have become increasingly common, with similar incidents happening several times a week. The most recent attack occurred on October 29, following others on October 25 and 16.
The police confirmed that a total of 10 individuals were arrested in the first two and a half weeks of October alone.
This year, there have been 19 attacks on couriers, with 16 incidents reported in Limassol and three in Nicosia.
On Wednesday, Justice Minister Marios Harisyiotis announced that the government is committed to addressing the rise in racially motivated attacks on food delivery workers.
