In Limassol, authorities are investigating a case of sexual violence against a minor with a disability

The Limassol Criminal Court has delivered a verdict in a high-profile case of sexual violence against a minor girl with a disability. One of the defendants was sentenced to eight years in prison, the second to three years. After their release, both will also be subject to two years of supervision.
As established by the court, the incident occurred in 2024 in one of the city’s parks. The girl was there alone when the accused approached her. The court concluded that the men were aware of the child’s vulnerability and deliberately took advantage of it. During questioning, however, they claimed they had asked about her age and that, according to them, the girl told them she was 20 and 22 years old.
After the incident, the victim sought help from people nearby. Passers-by supported her and escorted her to the police, where a complaint was filed and her parents were notified.
The investigation collected evidence including medical reports, genetic data and CCTV footage that recorded the movements of the victim and the defendants before and after the episode. The court also took into account expert conclusions that what happened had seriously affected the girl’s mental state and could have long-term consequences.
It is also noted that a third defendant is involved in the case and does not plead guilty. Consideration of his case is scheduled for early 2026.
