Three women have been placed in custody for eight days on suspicion of murdering 30-year-old Nigerian citizen Victory Osarumen Thompson, who was found dead in an apartment in the Potamos Germasogeia area of Limassol. The incident occurred on Sunday morning between 5:00 and 10:00.

According to the investigation, the women, who lived with the victim, were charged with assault. During the court hearing, it was reported that a broken broom handle found at the scene was sent for forensic examination. A couple that visited the apartment earlier is also involved in the case — they are accused of participating in the assault and leaving with the victim’s mobile phone.

In the suspects’ testimonies, they stated that they returned from a nightclub and tried to calm the victim, who was allegedly behaving erratically; according to one statement, it was the 35-year-old accomplice who hit the woman with the broom. Neighbors reported hearing screams from the apartment in the early hours of the morning.

Forensic experts Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou determined that the cause of death was a traumatic brain injury and multiple bodily injuries from a blunt object, likely the same broken broom. Investigators are requesting CCTV footage and phone records, and the search for two more suspects continues.
