Nicosia to Celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity with a Vibrant Festival
This Saturday, Nicosia’s Faneromeni Square will host a colorful and inclusive celebration in honor of the World Day for Cultural Diversity. Organized by Generation for Change CY and Visual Voices, the free Diversity Day festival promises an evening filled with art, music, and cultural exchange.
The event aims to bring together artists, communities, and visitors from all walks of life for a shared celebration of creativity and diversity. From 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the square will be transformed into a lively space featuring hands-on workshops for all ages. Attendees can take part in drumming circles, salsa dancing, ceramic-making, henna painting, papier-mâché crafting, and painting sessions.
As the evening unfolds, the festival will feature a concert program with live music and dance performances by artists and creative groups representing the many cultural communities who call Cyprus home. The celebration will end with a DJ spinning a set of world music to keep the energy high.
Throughout the event, food and handmade crafts will be available from local artisans and chefs, offering visitors a taste of Cyprus’s diverse cultural flavors.
The festival is being held to mark the World Day for Cultural Diversity, a global observance that encourages intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and respect for cultural variety.
“Cyprus is home to many incredible artists from refugee and migrant backgrounds. However, systemic barriers often prevent them from fully sharing their talents and contributing to the island’s cultural life,” said Etinosa Erevbenagie-Johnbull, Managing Director of Generation for Change CY. “We invite everyone to come experience how vibrant and diverse Cyprus’s cultural scene truly is.”
