In Nicosia, a driver was detained without documents; three people in the car were illegally in Cyprus
During a road check in Nicosia in the evening, the police stopped a car carrying four people. According to the police, the inspection revealed violations that required further law enforcement action.
The 25-year-old driver was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license, insurance certificate, registration certificate, or roadworthiness certificate. During a personal search, a credit card in another person’s name and documents with bank account numbers were found.
The driver was detained for illegal possession of someone else’s property. Additional checks showed that the other three passengers — two men and one woman — were in the Republic of Cyprus illegally; they were also detained to assist with the investigation.
For residents of Cyprus, this means that road checks continue, and driving without the required documents or possessing someone else’s bank cards can lead to detention and criminal or administrative consequences. Individuals without the right to stay in the republic are subject to detention and further proceedings by competent authorities.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, according to the police.
