Man arrested in Nicosia over 7kg cannabis smuggling case
In Nicosia, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) arrested a 41-year-old man as part of an investigation into the importation of a large quantity of cannabis.
According to police, a parcel containing approximately 7 kilograms of cannabis arrived in Cyprus via a courier service in February.
During the investigation, law enforcement obtained evidence of the 41-year-old's involvement and issued a warrant for his arrest. The suspect was detained yesterday evening.
During a search of his home, police discovered and seized a small amount of cannabis, mobile phones, and other evidence.
The man is in custody and is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court today, where the issue of his remand will be considered. The investigation is ongoing.
