41-year-old man from Bulgaria killed in Paphos: 30-year-old suspect arrested
In the evening, a murder occurred in the Peiya area of Paphos, with the victim being a 41-year-old Bulgarian national. A 30-year-old man has already been arrested in connection with the case.
According to police, the tragedy was preceded by a personal dispute. The victim arrived in Paphos from Limassol together with four other people to meet the alleged attacker, with whom he had disagreements.
At around 23:40, police received a report of a fight in a residential area of Peiya. Officers arriving at the scene found a 30-year-old man near a house, and nearby a car with a damaged front end and a shattered rear window.
A few minutes later, during patrols, another vehicle was stopped with five people inside. One of them had sustained a knife injury. The injured man was taken to Paphos Hospital — he was identified as Georgi Marinov Ivanov, aged 41. Despite emergency surgery, he died from his injuries at around 4 a.m.
The vehicle also contained a 28-year-old man with abrasions and friction burns, who was hospitalized.
Police continue the investigation to determine the exact circumstances and motives behind the incident.
